It was great to meet MK’s very own Olympic champion Greg Rutherford yesterday, who I also managed to invite along to church. Greg is someone who has battled through injury and criticism to become a true champion – going on to win European and Commonwealth golds.
The truth is there are clear spiritual parallels between Greg’s career and our own walk with God. Jesus promised us criticism and set-backs, but He also promised victory in Him to those that endure. Not only in this life, but more importantly, when we cross the finish line into eternity.
So here’s to one of those rare good role models in this world, with prayer that he will come out to one of our services one day and find out about the greatest champion of all – the one who defeated death itself – Jesus Christ.
